Controls: 

• Use WASD to move the player character
• Click buttons to use abilities
• Use the 'S' key to save your game. 
• Press 'Esc' to quit the game.
• Use the "Instakill" ability to speed through the game, but please note that this is a developer feature and not actually intended as part of proper gameplay! 

How to Play:

This is an JRPG thing! Run around to explore the world (Note: There's not much to see. But the walls are not invisible, they are solid stone. 

Be careful in the tall grass, while moving in there you can trigger a random encounter, where you may face a Goblin, a Minotaur, or, deadliest of all, a Cactus. 

Defeat enemies to absorb their skills to use as your own. 

Features: 

• Title Screen: See the name of the game! Check the credits to see where assets came from! 
• A small map: Explore this wondrous JRPG word! Collide with trees and rocks! Enjoy 2D lighting! 
• A Player Character: Embody the shirtless gladiator. Move him all directions on a 2D plane. 
• Encounter System: Face deadly random encounters. Use powerful abilities to best your opponents, but look out, they can use the same moves as you can. 
• Challenging AI: A custom built "Deck" AI system, based on card counts and shuffles to simulate intelligent, yet learnable and exploitable AI. This works to prevent bad luck AND very good luck, evening out the enemy AI for more predictable fun! 
• Save System: Press 'S' to save your position, for long-term play. 
• Ability System: Custom built system for abilities that players and enemies can use. System built based on several types of damage, including Raw Damage which deals flat damage, Roll Damage which rolls a dice to determine damage, and Scaling Damage which does damage based on the stats of the character using the attack. Also use buffs and debuffs to turn the tides of battle! 
• Steal Abilities: Best enemies in combat to absorb their most powerful skills. 
• Visual Effects: Bask in the splendor of 2D animations! 
• Sound Effects and Music: Let custom music and custom/sourced sound effects for an experience for multiple senses! 
• Code Organization: Read legible and reasonably well-thought out code!
